We’ve always been asked, “Do you have a platypus chocolate?” Well, after much research and a bit of excitement, we can finally say – we do! Inspired by the iconic platypus, which is the unofficial mascot of Maleny (thanks to a local family living in the town centre by the Obi Obi Creek), we embarked on a delicious adventure to bring this quirky creature to life in chocolate form.
To make it happen, we sourced a custom mould from overseas, and while we were waiting, we decided to do more than just create a sweet treat – we wanted to give back. That’s why we partnered with Wildlife Queensland, committing to donate 10% of every sale to platypus conservation.
To make the experience even more special, Wildlife Queensland ran a naming competition, and the clear winner was Obi! Named after the Obi Obi Creek, Obi means “warrior” in Aboriginal language – a perfect name for a champion of conservation.
